Experiment #09
Gentle vibrato
Add expression with a shallow LFO on pitch.
Small depth, moderate rate, destination pitch — the difference between a static beep and a played note.
Promise: “I can add vibrato without derailing the tune.”
Experiment #09
Gentle vibrato
Add expression with a shallow LFO on pitch.
- 1.Hold a mid note. You should hear a gentle pitch wobble.
- 2.Drop LFO DEPTH toward 5–10% if it feels seasick.
- 3.Set RATE near 5 Hz for a natural vibrato; slower for a siren.
- 4.Compare with DEPTH at zero — same patch, suddenly lifeless.
You should hear…
A singing, slightly wavering pitch — like a finger rocking on a string — not a wild trill.
Doesn’t sound right?
Out of tune chaos? DEPTH is too high for pitch destinations. Keep it subtle.
Try it on your gear
- Hydrasynth DeluxeLFO → pitch / vibrato controls
- SH-01ALFO to VCO
- OSCarLFO amount to oscillator
Why it sounds like that
Pitch modulation needs far less depth than filter modulation. The ear is extremely sensitive to frequency; a little goes a long way.
