Experiment #10
Filter snap
Let the filter envelope strike each note like a mallet.
High filter-env amount and a quick decay put a percussive “hit” on every key press — useful for leads and bass.
Promise: “I can accent notes with a filter envelope.”
Experiment #10
Filter snap
Let the filter envelope strike each note like a mallet.
- 1.Play short notes. Each one should flash bright, then darken.
- 2.Raise FILTER ENV for a harder strike; lower it for a softer accent.
- 3.Lengthen DECAY so the brightness hangs longer into the note.
- 4.Park CUTOFF lower so the envelope has somewhere to travel from.
You should hear…
A bright attack blip on every note, then a darker body — like a mallet hitting a resonant tube.
Doesn’t sound right?
No snap? FILTER ENV is near zero, or CUTOFF is already wide open so the envelope has nothing to add.
Try it on your gear
- SH-01AENV MOD → filter
- TB-3Accent raises filter and volume together
- Hydrasynth DeluxeAssign an ENV to filter cutoff
Why it sounds like that
Filter envelopes are accents you can hear. They open the filter on note-on, then fall — the same gesture as amp decay, aimed at tone instead of loudness.
