Experiment #13
Cutoff chorus
Perform one continuous filter gesture per bar — arrangement without new notes.
Acid and mono leads often keep the pitch pattern fixed and write the chorus with the filter. This recipe drills that gesture on the Signal Path panel.
Promise: “I can ride cutoff like a third instrument.”
Experiment #13
Cutoff chorus
Perform one continuous filter gesture per bar — arrangement without new notes.
- 1.Power on, load a bright saw, HOLD on, press A (or computer key A).
- 2.Set CUTOFF mid-low, RESO high enough to whistle faintly, ENV MOD modest.
- 3.For one bar: open CUTOFF slowly (drag or arrow keys). For the next: close it.
- 4.Repeat with HOLD off and a simple 16th-note riff — same gesture, now under rhythm.
- 5.Optional: [ ] cycle to RESO and add a tiny bump only at the end of bar 4.
You should hear…
A filter ‘chorus’ that breathes with the bar — notes stay, brightness writes the drama.
Doesn’t sound right?
Nothing changing? VCF not bypassed? DEPTH of LFO at zero so you’re not fighting automation. Keys dead? Power on; A–K work while the knob is focused.
- TB-3Touch-pad cutoff chorus
- TB-03Hand-ride CUTOFF on a looping seq
- SH-01AVCF FREQ while sequencer runs
- Hydrasynth DeluxeMacro or mod wheel → Filter 1 cutoff
Why it sounds like that
On 303 / TB-3 / SH-01A, the famous lines are often simple pitches plus performed cutoff. Practise the arc before blaming the sequencer.
