Experiment #04
Resonance
Make the filter sing at its cutoff point.
Raise resonance and sweep cutoff — the whistling peak that became acid, techno and a thousand leads.
Promise: “I can shape a note with resonance.”
Experiment #04
Resonance
Make the filter sing at its cutoff point.
- 1.Set RESO near zero. Sweep CUTOFF left and right — smooth darkening only.
- 2.Raise RESO to about 70–80%. Sweep again and listen for the peak.
- 3.Park CUTOFF low and RESO high, then play short low notes.
- 4.Ease RESO back if it gets harsh — the sweet spot is just before scream.
You should hear…
Without resonance, a smooth darkening. With it, a whistling peak that follows the knob — the acid squelch.
Doesn’t sound right?
Too loud or screechy? Back RESO off and drop LEVEL a little; high resonance boosts energy at one band.
Try it on your gear

Why it sounds like that
Resonance feeds the cutoff frequency back into itself, emphasising a narrow band. Combined with a filter envelope, it writes the classic acid vowel.
