Experiment #01
Raw buzz
Hear an oscillator with nothing carving it yet.
Power on a saw wave with the filter wide open. This is the raw material every subtractive patch starts from.
Promise: “I can make a sound — and name the source.”
Experiment #01
Raw buzz
Hear an oscillator with nothing carving it yet.
- 1.Press POWER ON, then hold a key (or tap HOLD).
- 2.Leave CUTOFF fully right and RESO near zero — you are listening to the source alone.
- 3.Switch WAVE between SAW and SINE. Pitch stays; colour changes.
- 4.Say out loud: “This buzz is the source. Next I will shape it.”
You should hear…
A steady, buzzy tone on saw; a soft whistle on sine. No wah, no pluck — just the oscillator.
Doesn’t sound right?
Silence? Browsers need the POWER ON click first, and LEVEL can’t sit at zero.
Try it on your gear
- Hydrasynth DeluxePack in production — start on OSC1 wave
- SH-01AWAVE selector · saw / square / noise
- OSCarOSC waveform + additive draw
Why it sounds like that
Subtractive synthesis starts bright and removes what you don’t want. Learning the raw tone first makes every later knob meaningful.
